Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor breathed his last on 4th December 2017, leaving millions of his fans all over the world saddened. It was way back in the 60s that a slim, handsome young man burst into the Bollywood film circuit and made a name for himself with his brilliant acting, dancing skills and above all, an ability to stay on the ground that helped him withstand first the Rajesh Khanna phenomenon and later the Angry Young Man revolution. In fact, Shashi Kapoor was the only actor from the 60s who continued his heroic run in the 80s, a time when Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, and even Manoj Kumar drifted towards character roles.
Shashi Kapoor was more famous in the ladies because of his looks but unlike elder brother Raj, he stayed faithful to his British wife Jennifer Kendal. It was only after her death that he started to gain weight and bid farewell to leading roles. He worked in almost 175 films during his career that included some English films as well. His last major role in a film was that of a narrator in Jinnah where he shared the screen with Christopher Lee as well as Pakistani actors Talat Hussain, Shakeel to name a few. Since he would have wanted to be remembered as the young man who danced around the trees, proving his love to the beautiful actresses of the era, we pay tribute to him the way he would have wanted.
