Hema Malini is one of those actors who doesnΓÇÖt age; they become more graceful with the passage of time. She made her debut in the late 60s while has been active on the scene since with occasional breaks to concentrate on her political career. On her 69th Birthday, letΓÇÖs take a look at BollywoodΓÇÖs Dream Girl and the way she transformed over the years.
In the 1960s, Hema Malini did a couple of flicks that established her as a rising star; Waris (1968 with Jeetendra) and Jahan Pyar Mile (1969 with Shashi Kapoor) made the audience aware of a young girl who had the looks of a diva and could dance her heart out, be it Eastern or Western dances.

The 1970s saw her become the Dream Girl of Bollywood; every actor wanted to work with her and a few were even interested in marrying her ΓÇô Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra. She starred in all the big-budget films of the era including Andaaz, Johnny Mera Naam, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Trishul to name a few. From Shammi Kapoor to Dev Anand, Rajendra Kumar to Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmendra to Shashi Kapoor, Feroz Khan to Hema Malini paired with all and came out as a winner.

Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini had acted in a couple of films in the 1970s but it was in the 1980s that the two took their pairing to a new level. With Satte Pe Satta, Naseeb, Desh Premee and Nastik, they became invincible. Other actors also worked with Hema Malini who despite being in his 30s was the fascination of the whole nation. It was during this decade that she married Dharmendra, who was a star in his own right.

Both Sabiha Khanum and Santosh Kumar moved to character roles in the late 60s, giving space to the newcomers; however, whenever they were together in a film, it was only them and no one else!
